Developing an Еvents-Based Reporting Solution for a 24/7 Automated Warehouse (Ben Murray)

At Ocado Technology development teams have a lot of autonomy when it comes to deciding how to build the applications and what technologies to use. This talk will cover some of the many challenges and experiences of developing software to control and manage an automated warehouse. It will dive into some of the detail and some of the different technologies that we chose to build our applications with. How our team culture has developed to help us to adapt to the continuously changing requirements, and how we balance new features, refactoring, bug-fixing and the freedom to experiment with new and different ideas and technologies.

Steven Payling is a Product Owner at Ocado Technology and has been part of the organisation for 12 years. In various product and operational roles, he has worked on building products and solutions to problems in each generation of the Оcado customer fulfilment offering. Steve is passionate about providing users with the right information at the right time so they can make the right decisions, and using data to drive innovation.

BEN MURRAY

Ben Murray is a Team Lead at Ocado Technology and has developed software for running and managing various warehouse systems during the past 5 years. Prior to this Ben worked with early IOT devices, aircraft communications systems and wireless networking research. Ben works with his team to produce, support and maintain a series of applications that provide Operational users with the tools they need to run the warehouse efficiently. Ben is looking forward to sampling some Bulgarian beer.
